Frequently Asked Questions about Kids Classes

What is the minimum age?

We accept ages 4 and up.

Is prior dance experience required for kids?

Not at all! All levels are welcome. We offer different classes by skill level, age and gender. The best way to determine which class is appropriate is to send us a text at 972-370-3460 with your child’s age and gender, and we will let you know the best class for a free trial.

Can my child have a free trial?

Of course. A free trial is actually required for each child before joining, as we want to make sure each child enjoys the experience and wants to participate.

How much are classes and how do I pay?

There is no registration fee and no contract. Tuition is monthly. It is $75 per month for 60-minute classes and $110 per month for 90-minute classes. Tuition is on autopay and is deducted on the 25th of each month. After the trial, if a child wants to enroll, it is an online registration process.

If you need to cancel enrollment – you must notify us by text or email by the 20th of each month before the following month tuition is processed. With notification by the 20th, we can stop the autopay. After that, there will be no refunds processed.

Is there a registration fee or contract?

No. There is no registration fee or contract. You can cancel any time. Our cancellation policy requires notification by the 20th of each month, before the next month’s autopay is set to process. Tuition is deducted on the 25th of each month for the following month. To cancel enrollment, notify us via text or email by the 20th of the month.

Are monthly tuition rates prorated?

We only prorate the first month that a child joins – since not all join at the beginning of the month. We do not prorate after the first month of joining. Tuition is monthly.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel enrollment – you must notify us by text or email by the 20th of each month before the following month tuition is processed. With notification by the 20th, we can stop the autopay. After that, there will be no refunds processed.

Is there class on holidays, and if not, are make up classes offered for those?

We use the CISD calendar as our guideline and we are closed on major holidays (weeks/weekends) such as Spring Break, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Our monthly tuition is a flat rate and is calculated with major holiday closures in mind – just like the other kids programs (piano, karate, ballet, etc) in the area. However, we don’t have as many closures as the other programs (like Columbus Day, Presidents Day, etc). So we actually offer more class days during the entire year. There are also some months in which classes actually occur 5 times. In addition – many class groups have extra practices as needed (at no cost) during recitals and other performances.

So our monthly tuition remains the same each month, regardless of the limited holiday closures we observe. And we won’t have make-up sessions for these major holiday closures.

If my child misses a class, what is the make up process?

If a child is sick or out of town – just text us directly for a make up class option for a future week. If you know your child will be out on multiple class days within a month, we recommend just enrolling and joining back when ready again (based on space available). It gets challenging to make up more than 1 or 2 classes within a month.

If I take a break one month, can my child still have the same class spot when we return?

We can’t hold spots without monthly enrollment and tuition. Our enrollment is ongoing so other children will be offered spots available in the class. If you decided to take a break, just check back with us on space and schedule when you are ready to return.

Is the studio closed during bad weather and are there make up classes for that?

If there are any closures due to bad weather, we will offer make up classes for those closures. Please note – with make up classes – it is impossible to find a perfect date that works for all the participants in a class. So we will schedule according to studio space and instructor availability and provide sufficient notice to parents.

What should my child wear to class?

They should dress in comfortable, workout-friendly attire! Examples are leggings and t-shirts. For girls and boys with long hair, their hair should be tied back and out of their face. No socks. And kids will dance barefoot.

Do the kids participate in stage performances?

Yes! Milaana Dance has a Fall recital and a Spring recital each year. All of the class group partcipate in those receitals. While not mandatory, each student has the opportunity to perform with the group. There are costs associated with the recitals. There is a recital fee and costume fee. Costumes are tailor made for each student and they keep the costume after the recital.

Occasionally, there are external performances (although not guaranteed) and classes may have the option to perform at various community events as they are available.
